My name is Liza MacKinnon and welcome to my website. I have a penchant for exploration and adventure. I am an avid skier, hiker, stand up paddler, biker, and a decent sailor. I don’t enjoy a trip consisting solely of sightseeing and eating large meals. A trip that includes outdoor activities is much more interesting, in my opinion, and it just plain feels good. Whenever possible I try to seek out the less touristy experiences of a place and find a doable adventure. You can take in some beautiful scenery this way and don’t have to buy more elastic waist pants when you return home.
About the Good-Natured Explorer: I created the Good-Natured Explorer to encourage active mini-adventures because we can’t all hike Mt. Everest or circumnavigate the globe. Some of us have obligations thank you very much, not to mention that epic trips take a lot of planning and budgeting. This website is for the easy explorer that wants to stay active and get out in nature in doable destinations. I aim for a couple of bigger trips per year, but I also plan smaller trips sprinkled throughout the year. The main ingredient is staying active; to me that is the secret sauce of life. When obligations keep me close to home I still seek out nearby adventures that satisfy my cravings. I hope this website inspires and encourages your own easy explorations and mini- adventures.
